I agree chris. I would like to hear from other wrestlers as to what they think. part of my thinking is I would want to meet the person face to face before I wrestle, pic or not. I think that is common sense. you cant tell much from a pic and a few emails.i want to enjoy my first match win or loose and the opponent to be a nice guy. please tell me what all of you guys think about this. thank you. good luck.

Thank you Pinyou for your comment. Alot to be said for wanting to meet the person face to face first.
Surprised that there has not been more comment on this topic.

thanks chris, I was beginning to think that I was the only one who thought this. I do not think it is unreasonable to ask a person to meet before you decide to have a match. good luck to you.

Hi Pinyou,
I understand when you say you prefer have a first meeting, before Wrestling,(I was the same at the begining).
I use to choose my opponents by
Checking the recommandations first. If no recommandation, looking if the guy is member from a long time (if yes and no recommandation: Warning, maybe fake)
Then i try to contact, and tchat with him, just to understand if we are connected with similar wrestling spirit, testing the human respect of the potential opponent.
Then i try to recontact the guy later, if available for wrestling, then, why not. I always take care to tell yhat the meeting must be fun for both opponents. If not, so i don't accept

I just wanted to ask the newcomers if they feel they are finding it easy to get the right opponents to develop confidence and experience on the mats and to be reassured as to safety.

As for those of us who have been around longer, are we doing enough to help new people get into it? It seems that (aside from the fantasists) that some newcomers bring a lot of pre-existing fitness, strength and sports experience to b completely at ease in having a go, but that some may find it difficult to break the ice or may have concerns about being thrown in at the deep end.

I am a new member and am finding it very hard to find a match. it seems that whenever I find another wrestler they live in another state or 200 miles away. maybe it is me I do not know. all I know is that I want to have a match but I want to start slow because I have no experience. if you have a suggestion please tell me. thanks and good luck.

Logistics and scheduling are always a challenge to say the least. But not impossible to overcome. I have noticed it's generally a good idea to post some sort of reasonable photo w/your p'file...doesn't have to be a face shot. For myself I'm generally less inclined to take seriously a gent who doesn't post a photo.
