I'm not the least bit "straight," – am gay as gay can be. But I have no problem wrestling straight guys and would never try to do anything "gay" with them–never try to convert them – in the same we that we gays find so-called "conversion [from gay to straight] therapy" repulsive. Let's merely accept the fact that "straight" guys are wired differently and proceed from there.

A couple of my best matches have been with 100% straight guys. And I welcome them and anyone else to hit the mats with me.

I do find it strange, however, that straight guys are averse to wrestling in my back yard–despite it being shielded 100% from "neighborly" viewing. The chances of being photographed by an aircraft, Google Earth, or spy satellites are next to zero; and nobody there would care whether or not we'd only be a couple pixels on any image..

Spruce,

I'd wrestle you in your back yard. In fact I will if you like, next chance we get. That's going to be sometime in June.

As for being straight. I think I can claim to be among the straight. But as I age I've found that the line between being straight and being something more complex than that becomes blurred.

Wrestling, especially real matches where we are both trying to win, is erotic for me. I don't mind showing it and I like knowing that I can have the same effect on the other person.

All of you on this thread so far seem quite safe, sane, 'n' rational. :) Already met Just Dan – a really great guy, one of the best, no nonsense guys, I ever wrestled. Thank you, Dan, for your unsolicited endorsement, as action lately has been about as rare as air molecules outside the International Space Station. It's possible that folks see the age number and decide not to open the profile page itself–thus never seeing any recommendations. Hope you can make it over this way soon, especially once I get the yard set up for outdoor action..

As hard of a time I have finding anyone who will wrestle with me, (most likely due to age), I'll settle for straight, bi, gay, or asexual. Averaging over 100 hours looking for every hour wrestling, tolerant straights are most welcome.

For one thing, if a straight guy spends an hour here on the mats it's virtually guaranteed an hour's worth of wrestling rather than the extreme opposite from some guys where it's two minutes of pretend wrestling and 58 minutes of other. If I wanted only "other," there are sites where that can be found at a 10 hours to 1 hour ratio, not 100+.

In the past two months I've wrestled two straight guys – two among the best of my encounters.

Might as well as put in a plug, and say–check out my profile, especially if you are in the DC area.

Nowhere near enough information to know yet whether just a "I got a boner during boxing" means "gay/bi" or "I once got a boner at the kitchen table; didn't mean I am a sitophliac. This doesn't mean anything yet on its own."

Like wristlock I find myself in a relatively small minority being (mostly) straight. I've also found that it matters very little. Everyone I've met and wrestled has been a gentleman off the mats regardless of their interests outside of wrestling.

I've also learned that, for me at least and I think for most of us who identify themselves as straight, the lines between one and other is blurry. Wrestling is inherently erotic and I am as capable of getting aroused by it as anyone else. While the interests in post wrestling activities might differ amongst us there is very little difference in our responses during the match. So what label do I put on myself? And does it really matter?

Being honest with yourself about what arouses you is crucial to your happiness and fulfillment. And sometimes that is a bit scary.

For most men, sex and violence are auto-erotically connected at some level. When an opponent gets sprung during a match, I never think it's because of my compelling sexiness. Lol. No. I'm pretty arrogant, but not that full of myself.

The mistake we make is interpreting a sexual response to violence as an indicator of how attractive we find our opponents.

A bigger problem for men in this situation is that they often look at prospective opponents on this site, and try to judge their sexual response to a match based on photos or chat when only an experiential measure really means anything to them.

Couple of ideas:

  • You may "really" be bi, and this one thing (wrestling competitively with guys) is simply the only way in which you aren't straight - meaning, wrestling is the access code for your brain to find males desirable. Maybe it's wrestlers' usually awesome bodies, or maybe it's the grind and friction of the grappling itself (or maybe it's the gay-ass uniforms), but there is some "there" there that you find attractive but cannot access - so far - without wrestling as your keycard.
Remember, bisexual ONLY means that one can find either/both sexes attractive. It does not mean they have to date one of each for the rest of their lives, that they cannot be faithful to only one person, that they even want both genders equally in the first place, or that wanting *sex* with both genders means bi people want *relationships* with both. Nope - lots and lots of bi dudes are down with some penis for teh fun, but they can't bond with, date, fall in love with a guy; that kind of wiring appears to be reserved to women. (And no, bi haters, it's not just because of internalized homophobia; they're just not interested). Anyway, those signals can be helpful too.
  • Assuming you survive the fight you just started, now what? Rip the guy's clothes off and get laid? Well, whether or not you even want to / could depends on the bi/straight thing - is there a way, any way, your brain can process getting erotic with a dude, or is it a no-go for you and there just is no universe in which you'll ever sleep with anyone besides a woman?
* If the latter, you may be (probably are) straight. None of this wrestling erotism means you're secretly a flaming homo, nor does it mean you want to bone/be boned by your opponent. Sexual attraction comes in trillions and trillions of ways and rules and exceptions - it is possible that the ONLY way in which the entire list of "Things That Just Dan Finds Sexy" EVER contains dudes, the male form only ever turns your crank in any way at all, is when dude is ready to throw down and is facing you across a mat or a ring. You are aroused by the context, the idea of you and someone else locked in wrestling/combat/sportsmanship/domination (whatever it is for you), and not (at all!) by the penis the other guy is packing. There will not be post-match coitus because your equipment wouldn't respond and join in. lol

Humans make sex so complicated, when it's at heart a fairly simple - or at least elemental, if not simple - thing.

There are many profiles that list among there interest practicing holds, which is exactly what I am looking for, and I have messaged quite a few members that list practicing holds, but when I say that is what I want to do it seems to fall on stony ground. If there are any guys on the site that would just like to exchange some light to medium painful holds with me, preferably in the Manchester area, then please get in touch. Wristlock
