If we're doing a global meetfighters jiujitsu tournament, I own a gym with huge mat space and am halfway-ish between California and Europe. Just sayin'. LOL
I agree, those who have achieved belts in judo or jiujitsu have shown progress in a real martial art as opposed to the phony pro wrestling jobber-heel bs that is pre-scripted or outright acting at times. If you are willing to practice in pubiic (your dojo or school) you are a true martial artist. Those who have wrestled in college, high school, or sanctioned wrestling clubs also deserve a lot of credit.
I like the way you describe your journey here. I just re-read the post from August 2015 about your first class... might be worth a look for you too. You have a record of where you were when you started, and you can see where you are now. I wish I had logged more of my early sessions. All the best.
Just got my belt this morning!! A real surprise...but not even half as surprising as the way it was presented to me - my instructor put it on me when I was rolling and I didn't even bloody notice!! Good grief. Anyway thanks to all the folk on here who gave me help when I was really struggling a few months ago, and I'm now more determined than ever to get a bit more into this gentle art.....
