Galleries and Virtual Profiles
XXX Galleries Are Here
As promised in last week's news post, and previously voted on here and discussed here, XXX Galleries are here. Members can now post their not-so-family-friendly, NSFW photos in their profile galleries if they so desire. More power to them. However, this is not a "core site feature"; there are two limitations:
- Viewing these photos full size requires a donation.
- Members who check "I do not want to receive XXX-rated photos" in their profile settings will not be shown these photos at all.
Regarding Virtual Profiles
Last week, I asked you about Virtual profiles. The news post sparked an interesting discussion too, I thank everybody who took the time to give their opinion, legal advice (that really happened) or just gripe about toe topic.
Based on the comments, I feel that my intention was somewhat misinterpreted. The intention was not to eliminate the type of person who would consciously and deliberately mislead others. That is a different sort of animal that needs a more nuanced approach than a new profile category. The intent was to let those who just want to chat and cyber be honest about it without retribution, more than anything.
In any case, the poll is now closed, and the results are in:
Votes | % of votes | Weighted % | |
Yes | 249 | 35% | 33% |
No | 296 | 41% | 50% |
I don't know | 152 | 21% | 15% |
Other, see comment below | 9 | 1% | 0% |
I interpret these results as a no to Virtual Profiles. I suppose it is still possible for someone intent on cyber to enjoy the site, by adding the related interests to his profile, so there's that. I want to run a site that is enjoyable for all members, scammers and spammers excepted.
What is Coming Next?
I have been making some incremental improvements and fixes to the new message page. It is fairly feature complete now, I think it is a big improvement over our previous offerings. It is now the default mail page for mobile users. Please let me know if you find bugs or have difficulty using it.
That's all for this week.

Hey admin, I love your site, but it would be great if you could re-enable the old mail page for mobile users. I often use my smartphone to check my messages which is now impossible with the new site. It loads forever but never shows any messages (and btw I think the old message site was very comfortable - no need to change it^^).

It would be great if you could explain what it is that you dislike about the new page. The old one will be removed at a future time, so it is in your interest to help me in this regard.
In the meantime, you can visit the old message page by using a desktop / tablet device, or manually navigating to this URL:
https://www.meetfighters.com/messages
(Easier if you bookmark it.)

Thanks, that's much better. I probably should upgrade to a tablet, but I like having something that fits in my pocket.

I like the message page providing a thread. I suppose as an iPhone user it what I am used to. Thank you so much fot this new feature and for taking all the trouble you do over developing the site. It is very much appreciated and I know most users will echo my thanks to you for your hard work and committment to our sport. Thanks!

16/6/2015 09:09Great to be able to see the message thread without endlessly searching for the dialogue button. So many messages it gets impossible to work out who said what when - this has fixed that. A lot of us don't have 25 yr old menory! Lol Inicia sessão para visualizares a galeria de fotos.

27/6/2015 03:33I love the new message layout except on my not so smart phone messages don't seem to work at all, I just get a huge BETA beside the number of unread messages but when I tap the number the messages don't appear.
This could be because my phone is designed to be a child's first smart phone (Samsung Galaxy Y) or it could be becsue I am supposed to tap something else to get the messages to display? I get a whirly thing but it doesn't even whirl, it is more of a frozen asterisk
I will be very sad if i can't use my mobile for stalking, at the moment I can go back to an old unread message link it and see them but if that gets done away with I will have no way of stalking on long train journeys

27/6/2015 03:41One more thing, I thought the virtual member thing was a good idea but I do believe in democracy, unlike the british voting system (controvertial) but would a compromise be just to have a large tag on a users name which a user could chose to include, so that Big Bruiser would show up as Big Bruiser - Cyber (or something like that) right at the top of the profile. Then everyone would know they are only here for cyber and whether they have pictures of stud muffins and were actually sitting in their onsie eating chips would become irrelevant. If someone chose not to have the big cyber label but still had fake info you could hunt them down to the ends of the earth in the clever way you do and bodyslam them into cyber space.
This may be very similar to the orignal idea but a good way to get round democracy is to do what you want but dress it up in a way that seems like you are doing what everyone wants

23/1/2016 17:35Hi there
I am still bothered with guys uploading their cock pics on the photo peer review. I already checked "I do not want to receive XXX-rated photos" but since these photos have not been categorized yet, it's unable to prevent me from viewing nude pics on that page.
Besides, there isn't any category which i can use to categorize these photos, as the closest one would be the "(almost) naked", which obviously do not apply for "full naked" pics.
I am sure people uploading these photos may not want to get this kind of publicity, as anyone on the site can view these stuff on the photo peer review page.
Maybe the members could rate their own naked photos before hand, skipping the photo peer and sending them straight to their xxx-rated gallery. And if not, i am sure they could get a warning for this.
This has been really annoying. Sorry for posting this "issue" here, but i reported it on Tracker a few months ago and my post never went online.
